JESUS CAMPJESUS CAMP, directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, follows Levi, Rachael, and Victoria to Pastor Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire" summer camp in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, where kids as young as 6 years-old are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in "God's army." The film follows these children before, during and after camp. I first noticed this movie at the local video store. It had a shelf display announcing that the movie was nominated by the Academy Award for best documentary film in 2006. I was impressed with the "ON FIRE" devotion to Jesus Christ that was effident of Levi age 12, Rachael age 9 and Victoria age 10. Although I did not find Pastor Fischer to be my favorite children's teacher I have to admire her powerful training teaching children to walk in God's power that she is accomplishing. It reminded me of the powerful training for children from Pastor David Walters. Pastor Walters said that the same Holy Spirit that is available to adults is also available to children - there is no little Holy Spirit. Pastor Fischer teaches the children at her Camp as if they were adults. While preparing to write the review I searced online for other reviews that have been written. I was disturbed by the bad review by Common Sense Media, and that they recommend that children under age 16 do not watch the movie. So I rewatched the movie asking God for discernment, and then asked my husband and step-son to watch it with me for their input. We all agree that it is a great documentary, and should be watched by Christian families. Some of the comments made by Pastor Fischer that christian teachers should know are: Kids are open and usable to Christianity. This is a sight and sound generarion. Kids need visual and demonstration. This is a key generation of Purity. We live in a more friendly environment to Christianity and our faith because of President Bush being open about his Christian faith. We got to stand up and take back the land. The Devil goes after the young. Warlocks, like Harry Potter are enemies of God. You don't make heros our of warlocks. And she tells children not to let Satan lead them off the path of what God wants for their lifes. Pastor Fischer tells us that she preaches for an hour to children. She uses about 20 object lessons during that hour. During the movie she shows her closet full of objects that she uses for her lessons. She demonstrates how she uses a balloon to show how praying, and going to Church helps make your spirit man stronger. Watching this movie made me realize that I need to be a stronger teacher to my children and grandchildren. It also made me remember that I also should be praying more for our President. I once heard an interview with President Bush where he said he can feel the prayers of the people, and he appreciates them. I thought about how experiances that my own children had during a young age shaped who they are today. And I know that these young children are not being brain washed as some critics say, but are being trained into an army of strong and mighty Christians that will help shape our tomorrow for God.
