PETER'S PAIN

Mark 14:69-72
And the servant girl saw him (Peter) again, and began to say to those who stood by, "This is one of them". But he (Peter) denied it again. And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it." Then began to curse and swer, "I do not know this Man of whom you speak!" A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he wept.
(New King James Version) Peter did deny Him and as the scriptures said in one translation " . . . wept bitterly." If I had been in Peter's position, what would I have done? Can I honestly say I wouldn't have done the same as Peter?
The song by "Third Day", called Can't Take the Pain tells of Peter's pain.

CAN'T TAKE THE PAIN
V. 1.
I didn’t see this one coming
Suddenly it snuck up on me
I can’t say You didn’t tell me so
I can’t say You didn’t warn me
CHORUS:
Well I can’t take the pain knowing that I left You
And I can’t bear the shame knowing I was wrong
But I’ll take the blame for everything that I’ve done
But I can’t take the pain for leaving You alone,
leaving You alone
V. 2.
Well I was there when they accused You
But I guess I was too afraid
Not just once, not just twice but three times
I denied Your name.
CHORUS:
Well I can’t take the pain knowing that I left You
And I can’t bear the shame knowing I was wrong
But I’ll take the blame for everything that I’ve done
But I can’t take the pain for leaving You alone,
leaving You alone
BRIDGE:
And I never thought I’d get even a second chance
But You’ve given me so much Lord
Nailed down for every time I did deny
You ask me if I love You, you know I do Lord
V. 3.
So I’m out to follow in Your steps
Won’t be easy its safe to say
There’s only two roads I can walk on down
The one less traveled is the one You paved
CHORUS:
Lord You took the pain even though I left You
And you took the shame and You made it all Your own
Why’d You take the blame for everything that I’ve done
Lord You took the pain, You and You alone
You and You alone
