JESUS IS TRUSTWORTHY

Do you know that Jesus is worthy of your trust?
Jesus is faithful to guide you safely through life.

Have you ever watched a mountain climber?
When they climb a slope or a rocky ledge, they have an absolute need of solidity.

Imagine yourself climbing a ledge high above the ground. You are trying to search for a place that is strong enough to hold your body weight. As you try to find a foothold, a safe place to rest the weight of your body, the ledge starts to give way. There you are hanging high on the cliff and you cannot find a solid place to grasp on to.

            How would you feel?

It must be a terrible experience of emptiness, of insecurity, of fear.

Sometimes in our life we also feel lost, empty, and fearful of where we are to go or what we are to do.

Jesus is our Rock, the one we can trust. Jesus will not fail us, for He is stable, trustworthy, true, to the degree to which we can place our feet on the rock, on the one who does not fail:

Lesson 3~ The Daughter of Jairus

Before we read this Bible story I want you to think about how much your parents love you. You are very special to them. They remember the day you were born, and the day they brought you home from the hospital. They remember how happy they were when you took your first step, your first birthday, and your first day of school. They remember these special days because you are very special to them and they love you very much.

In today's lesson we will read about a father named Jairus who loved his daughter very much. Just like your parents love you.

Jairus believed in God. He was the ruler of a synagogue (a place of worship). He lived in a large and important city called Capernaum. It was a busy city, and many people lived there. Jairus lived with his wife and a daughter who was 12 years old.

One day Jairus' daughter became very sick. Her parents were very concerned. They took very good care of her to try to get her well. They called the doctors, but she did not get better. Her parents were afraid that their daughter would die.

Jairus had heard about Jesus, and the great miracles He preformed. He heard that Jesus healed the sick, the deaf, the lame and the blind. Jairus believed that Jesus could heal his daughter too. So when Jairus heard that Jesus was in town he ran out of his house to find Him.

Jairus saw a large crowd of people. He thought that Jesus must be there among them, so he ran even faster to get to Jesus. When he found Jesus he fell to his knees at the feet of Jesus, pleading, "My little daughter is about to die. Please come and lay your hands on her, so that she will get well and live."

Jesus saw that Jairus had great faith in Him, so He went with Jairus to his house, and many people followed behind them. As they were walking a servant approached Jairus, and told him the bad news. He said "Your daughter has already died, there is no reason to bother Jesus anymore."

The Bible says that as soon as Jesus heard this he told Jairus, "Be not afraid, only believe." Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him to Jairus' house. The people were wailing and crying because the little girl was dead. Jesus asked them why they were weeping because he said the girl was not dead, but only sleeping. The people all laughed at Jesus because they knew she was dead. So Jesus took the parents into the room with Peter, James, and John.

Do you know what happened next?

Jesus took the little girl's hand, and she suddenly stood up and began to walk. The little girl arose from the dead! Jesus had called her back to life!

Can't you imagine how excited Jairus, his wife and their family and friends were! They must have been jumping for joy and hugging each other for a long time. Jairus was glad that he had trusted Jesus, and put his faith in Him. Jesus was trustworthy. Jesus told them to not tell anyone what happened and to give her something to eat.

Because Jesus is God's son, He can do anything. Jesus gives us hope of eternal life, because He has risen from the dead to be alive forever. One day He will raise those that believe in Him to live forever with him. We have a great hope and a great God.

Prayer Thought: Teach me to have faith that Jesus will take care of me in every situation.
