The Story of The Creation of our Universe,

A Happy New Year Card

In the Bible the word Create means to make or begin something new. In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, we learn that God is the Creator of ALL things. Man can make and build things, but God is the only one who can Create something out of nothing!
Can you name some things that were Created by God?

Have everyone in your family go on a scavenger hunt. Ask them to collect nuts and bolts, leafs, grass, rocks, scissors, tape, toys, pencils, string, or any other odds and ends that they can find around the house and yard. When everyone gathers together toss everything in a large box. Have each person take a turn shaking the box. Now open it. Have the parts come together to create anything new? Read Genesis 1 together and talk about how the parts of the world we live in fit together. Our world did not just happen. The fact that everything fits together so well shows that our world really was designed and created by God.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Creation Day One

Genesis 1:1-5
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

In the beginning was...

Verse two indicates that the earth was made of water. It is interesting that a drop of water suspended in space is without form, just as the earth was in its original condition.

Verses 3 and 4 tell us about light. Since light is energy, and energy is governed by the laws of physics, these laws must also have been established on the first day.

And God said that it was

In verse 5 God calls the first time period "day", the Hebrew word is "Yom". The statements made in this verse clearly indicate a reference to a 24 hour period of time.
