WE WILL DANCE
This week
God has been showing me that Dancing is an important part of Praise. My youngest daughter, Jamie, discovered a book from one of our many book shelves and asked me what the book was about. It was a book we had ordered in 1996 for a church study group when we owned a little Christian bookstore "The Beacon of Light". I told my daughter that I had never read this book. She said "Well Mom you should read it." I knew she was right so I started reading "Glory, a Jerusalem Experience" by Ruth Ward Heflin. (CLICK HERE for an online copy). The night that I finished the chapter on Ruth Heflin's discovery of the importance of Praise dancing before the Lord, I was checking my email and found an email a friend had sent titled "Does God dance on your Potatoe Chips"?

Dancing is something I loved to do in my younger days, but yesterday I found myself barely moving much less dancing. I have been convicted this week that I need to Dance more to express my inner Joy! Last Thursday evening my husband joined me in singing and dancing to God in our bedroom. Then on Friday evening (the beginning of the Sabboth) our family gathered together in our living room for an evening of reading the Bible, singing praise songs, playing tambourines and dancing unto God. What a wonderful time we had! Saturday morning the cash deposit my husband made to our bank account had dissappeared. It showed online on friday evening, but now it was not showing up at all. When I called the bank they could not find it. My husband rushed to the branch where he had made the deposit to show them the proof of deposit. They told him that it would be Tuesday before they could search it, and Wednesday before the money would be available. We were glad that he had held back a few dollars so that we had some cash. I checked the refrigerator and realized we had enough food to last until then, but that meant eating hamburger meat every night.
Our drawing closer to God this week made Sunday morning church praise service an even greater Worship experience. With hearts full of joy our family loaded into our large Suburban ... but it would not start. My husband was quick to ask the man in the car next to us for a jump. We always carry jumper cables for emergencies such as this. Still our car would not start. Neither me nor my 15 year old daughter had brought our cell phones. Craig walked back to the church to use the church phone. He waited in the Church office in a line with others wanting to use the phone. Some women were chit chatting on their phone calls so he fumed leaving without making the call. Once he reached the car he slouched in his seat, grumpling that every time he draws closer to God he gets attacked. I decided to take the lead with a triumphant attitude and slid out the car announcing that I would make the call to my oldest children. I was sure one of them would come to our rescue. My husband decided to walk with me.
I have been down this road before, and I know when Satan is sending his attacks on us. But NO WAY, NOT THIS TIME! I refuse to let Satan steal the JOY we were enjoying this week!! Just yesterday I was witnessing to a friend who was undergoing tremendous challenges in their marriage because of financial problems. Their car had broken down and they were without transportation. In my earlier days I would have been upset, fumed and yelled. I would have tried to place the blame on my husband. I would have reminded him that I wanted to look for a new car yesterday, but he suggested waiting one more month when we would be in a better financial position. Now we will have to spend more money to fix this old car. But I am wiser, and more careful of my words. I reminded myself that I trusted my husband yesterday to make the right decision and I refused to let anything or Satan change my mind. I still believe that my husband makes the right decisions, and I will continue to Dance with Joy no matter what the circumstances. My son was more than willing to give up his Sunday afternoon to rescue his parents. We waited in the car for his arrivial. My husband grew annoyed when our three young kids decided to announce that they were hungry and started scavaging the car for reminants of food, candy or empty wrappings that still smell like candy. Then one decided to throw paper at another, which led to anger and throwing paper back and forth. Finally someone saw Lew's car approaching, and we all started rejoicing. There was the discussion on who would go first. My husband wanted to be the martyr, but I thought I made a better one and suggested that my 15 year old daughter could stay with me, she gave me one of those "You gotta be kidding" looks so I gave in and went first with the three young kids, while Craig and Jeff waited for the 2nd trip. As we drove home Lew suggested that I call Robert, because Robert is our family expert when it comes to automobiles. and he would at least know where the starter was located. Once home I called Robert, and he was more than willing to help. However he would need Lew to come out to his house and jump his car, as he was also having car problems. While Lew traveled to get his brother, Craig turned on the Praise tape in our bedroom. When I walked in his spirit was already rejoicing, and we decided to danced around our room. We sang with the music, held each other, twirled, and held each others hands and lifted them up to the Lord. We Praised God with Joy and laughter. You might be thinking that we always dance.... But we never dance! During our 14 years together when I have asked Craig to dance, he has told me that he does not dance. We did danced one slow dance at our daughter's wedding. This is truely a whole new revelation for us!!! And so the day progressed with my oldest sons working together to get our car fixed. We had a wonderful day with our family and grandsons. What Satan wanted for defeat we turned to Joy. At the end of the evening after Robert and his sons pulled out of our driveway my husband and I walked back to the house. I wrapped my arm around my husband and he wrapped his arm around me. I said "What a wonderful day this has been, Satan tried to steel our joy, but he lost." It was one of the best days. What an awesome God we serve!
The following friday night our youngest daughter asked "Are we going to Dance tonight?" We had our two grandsons over to spend the night so they joined us. God had placed on my heart to teach the children to dance. Tyler (22 months) came into the room with an instrument in his hand. He immediately started dancing in a large circle kicking his legs up high. I laughed realizing that it was the children who would teach us how to dance. I think kids are born with the natural ability to Praise God. Several times during the Praising we saw Tyler lifting his hands upwards while we sang. We spent 90 glorious minutes singing, dancing and praising God. What a wonderful Sabboth celebration we experienced!
We continue to celebrate Friday nights with Praise, Bible Study and sometimes Bible Games. We call it our P.A.R.T.Y. night. (Praise And Rejoice Together YEA!!!) We try to have dinner finished before sundown, or have a treat and get take out food like Pizza! We even decided not to go out on our Anniversary because it was a Friday night, and we enjoy our Family Friday Party nights more than going out!!
The other morning I woke up my husband before dawn so we could danced toether to our favorite Praise music. Does God Dance

Her
smile
so
warm
and
tender
She
has
you
in
her
heart
This
dance
of
joy
her
beauty
Today
we
have
a
part
Twirling
sweetly
in
the
sky
Her
sparkle
always
there
Falling
in
a
pattern
That
makes
her
love
aware
Smile
is
so
inviting
It's
always
on
display
Bursting
with
such
happiness
She
sweetly
comes
your
way
Dancing
with
your
spirit
With
touch
of
gold
she
sends
Myriad
of
colors
That
fills
your
heart
and
then
Her
magic
makes
an
entrance
The
one
your
soul
can
feel
Today
she
dances
with
you
The
love
you
feel
so
real.
