Baby Moses ~
              Safe in the Bulrush Basket

King Pharaoh made a new rule. He wanted all baby boy Israelites to be killed by being thrown into the Nile River.

A beautiful baby boy was born. His mother hid him for three months. One day she decided to make her baby son a basket bed out of bulrushes. She made the basket strong and water proof like a small boat. Her daughter Miriam went with her to hide the baby. They placed the baby in the basket and hid him behind the reeds in the river. Miriam stayed to watch over her baby brother. She wanted to see what God would do. "Let us Pray to God before I leave," said Mother. "Dear God in Heaven please watch over my childen, and protect them from all harm. Amen"

Later that day, Pharaoh's daughter came to the river for a bath. She saw the little straw basket and asked one of her servants to go see what was in it. When the servant girl opened the basket they saw the beautiful baby boy. The princess picked him up gently and held him. The baby smiled at the princess. "I will take care of this baby, and I will call him 'Moses' because I drew him out of the water."

Miriam went to the Princess. "Do you want me to find a nurse to take care of the baby and feed him?" "Oh yes, please do" said the princess. So Miriam rushed home to tell her Mother the good news, and to bring her back to the river. "Take this baby and raise him for me," the princess told Moses' mother. "When he is no longer nursing bring him back to me. I will raise the boy as my son in the palace."

God protected Moses from being killed and provided a way to keep him safe.
